Statistically 1 in 2 pregnancies with a shortened cervix will result in a premature delivery, that’s potentially 35,000 babies in the NICU yearly. And that’s only the stats for the babies that make it.
Up to 20% of miscarriages that occur between 16 and 24 weeks gestation are believed to stem from cervical insuffiency, also know as an incompetent cervix.
This diagnosis has proven to be understudied and that needs to change.
Every single family deserves their best chance.
